A community collaboration

2022

Collaboration: A Community Commencement explored how forms of graduation often happen through collective growth. It acknowledges that this growth can happen in the academic space, but that there are spaces outside of its structure where community members still "commence." Through this workshop, Vassor partnered with the local business Canvas Cartel to give youth alternative paths within arts entrepreneurship and lend more examples of healthy collaboration.

Community Tales (From the Kid in Me)

2021

The mural "Community Tales (From the Kid in Me)" encourages viewers to listen to their inner child for continued growth and uplift our communal stories. The centerpiece of the work is a chalkboard outlined by a red star, where visitors can write imaginative community tales or musings inspired by their childhood. It was an honor to create a piece that speaks to healing and preservation for both youth and adults in the intergenerational library at Greenmount West Community Center.
